Twenty-eight settlements remain flooded in Kherson region

Twenty-eight settlements remain flooded in Kherson region after the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka HPP. Of them, 17 are in the temporarily occupied territory.

"As of 08:00 on June 17, a gradual decrease in the water level is observed on the Dnipro River near the Kherson post, it stands at the level of 1.09 m. Eleven settlements (1,509 houses) on the right bank of the Dnipro River and 17 settlements in the temporarily occupied territory remain flooded," the State Emergency Service of Ukraine posted on Telegram.

A total of 2,782 people have been evacuated in Kherson region; 716 people have been rescued, including 30 children and 40 people with reduced mobility. Psychological assistance has been provided to 401 persons.

Fourteen evacuation points have been deployed.

Since the beginning of the works, more than 59,000 tonnes of water have been pumped out of 245 houses and basements.

Forty-nine tons of water, including 36 tonnes of drinking water, and 4,495 kg of food and basic necessities have been delivered.

As reported, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam on the night of June 6. The plant cannot be restored. In Kherson region, rescue operations and evacuation of people from flooded areas are ongoing.
