EU provides EUR 100M in energy aid to Ukraine – Svyrydenko
According to Ukrinform, Svyrydenko wrote this on Telegram following a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa.
"I thanked them for the important decision of the European Union to provide Ukraine with EUR 90 billion in financial assistance for 2026-2027 under the EU Support Loan for Ukraine. Today, the Council of the European Union supported the regulatory changes necessary for providing this loan. It will help ensure macro-financial stability, support defense capabilities, and guarantee the uninterrupted functioning of key state institutions during the war," Svyrydenko said.
She also thanked EU leaders for their continued support of Ukraine's energy sector.
"Today, a new EUR 100 million energy assistance package was announced. Together with the EU, we will work on a new Winter Energy Plan for 2026-2027. This is a significant contribution to strengthening our energy resilience, restoring infrastructure, and preparing for the next heating season amid constant attacks," Svyrydenko said.
According to her, the European Union remains a reliable partner for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received more than EUR 200 billion in military, financial and humanitarian support.
"We are grateful for the shared position of our partners and their understanding that Ukraine's successful development is a guarantee of Europe's security," Svyrydenko said.
She added that work is continuing on reforms required to meet the criteria for joining the European Union.
"Ukrainian society has determined that our European integration path is irreversible, and we will certainly achieve this goal," Svyrydenko concluded.
