Russian attack causes power outages in Kyiv and four regions – Ukrenergo
According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's state grid operator Ukrenergo announced this on Facebook.
The company said that overnight and in the morning the enemy had carried out a large-scale missile and drone attack on several regions of Ukraine. As a result, by morning a significant number of consumers were without power in Kyiv and in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, and Odesa regions. It also reported damage to energy facilities in several regions and noted that emergency repair and restoration work was already underway wherever the security situation allowed.
Ukrenergo added that electricity consumption as of 09:30 on Tuesday was 7.9% lower than on Monday, which it attributed to the massive attack.
Due to the difficult situation in the power system caused by Russian strikes, emergency power outages are being applied in some regions. In the remaining regions, capacity restrictions for industry and hourly outage schedules for households are in effect.
The company reported that due to icing and ice buildup on power lines, 68 settlements in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions were fully or partially without power as of the morning.
"In all regions of Ukraine today, there is still a need for economical energy consumption. Please limit the use of powerful electrical appliances as much as possible. If possible, postpone energy-intensive processes to night hours – after 23:00," Ukrenergo added.
Earlier reports said that Ukraine's air defense forces had neutralized 38 missiles and 412 drones launched by Russia against Ukraine since the evening of February 2. Impacts by 27 missiles and 31 attack drones were recorded at 27 locations, and debris from downed UAVs fell at 17 locations.
