Power outages hit three regions due to Russian attack – Ukrenergo
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the National Energy Company Ukrenergo on Facebook.
“Last night, the enemy carried out missile and drone strikes on energy facilities in several regions. As a result, by morning, consumers in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions were left without power. The town of Slavutych, which is administratively part of the Kyiv region, is also completely without electricity. Emergency restoration work has begun wherever security conditions allow,” the statement said.
Electricity consumption as of 9:30 on Monday is 5.8% higher than the previous working day, Friday, January 2. Ukrenergo attributes this increase to falling temperatures across most regions of Ukraine.
Due to the consequences of previous large-scale Russian attacks, most regions are operating under industrial power limitation schedules and hourly electricity outage plans.
“In regions where hourly outages are in effect today, it remains necessary to use electricity sparingly. Please limit the use of high-power appliances as much as possible. If possible, shift energy-intensive processes to nighttime hours – after 23:00,” Ukrenergo advised.
As previously reported, from 18:00 on Sunday, January 4, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with nine Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-300 surface-to-air guided missiles from Bryansk and Voronezh regions, as well as 165 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types from Millerovo, Kursk, Shatalovo, and Oryol. Around 100 of these were Shahed drones.
