Ukraine, Montenegro update free trade agreement

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"The protocol signed today is aimed both at supporting business and at harmonization with European standards," Kachka said.

His office explained that the protocol updates the rules of origin in line with the revised Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin. In particular, it provides for simplified rules for international trade and reduced administrative barriers for businesses.

The implementation of the protocol is expected to create new opportunities to expand exports of Ukrainian goods to the Montenegrin market, as well as to involve Ukrainian producers in international value-added chains.

A free trade agreement between Ukraine and Montenegro entered into force on January 1, 2013.

According to Ukraine's State Statistics Service, bilateral trade in goods amounted to $124.1 million in January-September 2025, including $30.4 million in exports and $93.7 million in imports.
