Portugal to join financing of Energy Fund for Ukraine - Svyrydenko
This was reported on Telegram by the head of the Ukrainian government, Yuliia Svyrydenko, following a meeting with her Portuguese counterpart, according to Ukrinform.
“We highly appreciate this step by our partners,” she said.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the defense initiatives Build in Ukraine and Build with Ukraine, which offer significant potential for cooperation, particularly in the field of joint drone production.
In the context of preparations for the upcoming Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, the prime ministers agreed to work on an intergovernmental (G2G) agreement that will help attract Portuguese businesses and investments to the Ukrainian market.
Svyrydenko expressed her gratitude to Portugal for its assistance to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion and for its warm welcome to Ukrainian refugees. Among other things, she noted the importance of the defense support that Portugal provides, in particular through the PURL and SAFE programs.
The head of government also stressed that Ukraine is grateful to the leaders of the European Union for their decision to provide EUR 90 billion in funding for two years.
As reported by Ukrinform, Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro arrived in Ukraine.
On December 20, Ukraine and Portugal signed a declaration on establishing a partnership for the production of marine drones in Kyiv.
