Ukrainian-made Chaklun interceptor drones achieve mission success rates of 88% to 100%. Maximum effectiveness is possible because, even in cases of unsuccessful interception or loss of communication, these UAVs can be safely returned, prepared, and redeployed.

Ivan Andrushchak, a representative of the Ukrainian drone manufacturer Chaklun, said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

“Recent feedback from units using Chaklun indicates effectiveness above 88%. In fact, unless physically destroyed by the enemy, it can be considered 100%. Unlike many multirotor systems, our UAVs can be safely recovered after an unsuccessful interception, prepared, and sent back on mission,” he noted.

According to him, Ukrainian interceptor drones are currently attracting strong interest from international partners, as recent conflicts have highlighted the vulnerability of traditional air defense systems to low-cost strike drones.

“The current conflict in the Middle East has shown that even major international defense companies lack effective protection against low-cost precision threats such as Shahed-type drones. Ukraine does, because we have already gained experience in countering such attacks. We have developed countermeasures and now effectively deploy interceptors on the battlefield. That is why interest in these systems is very high,” Andrushchak said.

At the joint stand of the Ukrainian Council of Defense Industry at the SAHA 2026 exhibition in Istanbul on May 5–9, the company presented three unmanned systems – a reconnaissance drone and two interceptors.

The Chaklun reconnaissance UAV can remain airborne for up to three hours and is equipped with dual camera modules for operations at different altitudes. “Our scout can operate below cloud level, which is crucial in current conditions. It can also capture high-quality intelligence from altitudes of 800 meters to one kilometer,” Andrushchak explained.

The company also unveiled the Chaklun KM interceptor, capable of speeds up to 300 km/h, and the new jet-powered Chaklun Jet, reaching speeds of up to 450 km/h. “This is our response to the threat of jet-powered Shaheds. All our UAVs are equipped with auto-targeting systems, guidance systems, and proprietary software to ensure mission success,” he said.

Andrushchak emphasized that the key competitive advantage of Ukrainian UAV manufacturers is real combat experience, direct feedback from defenders, and continuous adaptation of technologies to frontline conditions. “We are highly competitive because our systems fly daily and perform combat missions. We receive feedback from the military almost in real time. Based on this, the complex is constantly improved and adapted to modern battlefield challenges. No other country currently has such a platform for technology development,” he stressed.

International partners are showing strong interest in Ukrainian drones and related technologies, but companies are not yet able to export such products. “At present, we cannot export this production. Political will and a unified mechanism are needed to allow Ukrainian defense industry products to be sold internationally without undermining Ukraine’s defense capability,” Andrushchak noted.

He expressed confidence that potential cooperation with international partners would strengthen, not weaken, Ukraine’s defense industry.

As Ukrinform previously reported, at the SAHA Expo 2026 International Defense, Aviation and Space Exhibition in Istanbul, Ukraine’s national pavilion organized by the Ukrainian Council of Defense Industry featured 13 exhibiting companies and two business visitors, including AIDronesUA, BTRY.Energy, Chaklun, EDRONE, F‑Drones, Fire Point, Grim Tech, Motor‑G, Phantom Defense, RAROG Aerospace, RAROG Tactical Gear, RENDROCK Ukraine, Spectre Industries, and business visitors Tekhnari and December1.
