Russia attacks Ukraine's gas infrastructure – energy minister

Ukrinform
On the night of February 20, Russian forces launched another attack on Ukraine's gas infrastructure.

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Last night, Russia once again carried out a massive missile and drone strike on the gas infrastructure. Production facilities sustained damage. As soon as the security situation allowed, specialists began assessing the damage and starting recovery work," he wrote.

All necessary measures are being taken to address the aftermath of the attacks and stabilize gas supply.

Galushchenko said that the goal of these attacks is to halt the extraction of gas, which is essential for meeting citizens' domestic needs and centralized heating.

"While Russia continues to openly lie about not attacking civilian critical infrastructure, we are witnessing several missiles intentionally targeting Ukrainian gas extraction sites. These actions by the enemy further confirm that Russia aims to hurt ordinary Ukrainians, plunging them into cold in the middle of winter," the minister added.
