Ukraine, EU discuss state of Ukrainian industry in wartime conditions

Representatives of Ukraine and the European Union have discussed the problematic issues of the Ukrainian mining industry and the possibilities of attracting EU investments.

According to Ukrinform, the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy reported this following the Sixth meeting of the EU-Ukraine High-Level Dialogue on horizontal issues and selected industrial sectors.

"In view of the ambitious goal of Ukraine’s fastest possible transition from candidate status to full membership in the EU, today's meeting of the Industrial Dialogue is the most constructive and informative, given the large number of issues related to the restoration of Ukrainian industry and post-war reconstruction of the country,” said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka.

At the meeting, the Ukrainian side presented its position regarding the state of Ukrainian industry in conditions of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. In particular, the parties discussed the problematic issues of the Ukrainian mining industry and the possibility of attracting EU investments, opportunities for the recovery of Ukraine’s metallurgical industry and the intensification of cooperation to conclude the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ASAA).

The parties also discussed the topical issues of cooperation in the field of public procurement and potential EU tools to support domestic small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Following the meeting, the parties identified the areas of further cooperation on the indicated issues, in particular, its results will be taken into account during the next Seventh meeting of the Industrial Dialogue.

As reported, the amount of direct damage caused by the Russian Federation to Ukraine’s infrastructure, industrial facilities and production logistics has reached almost $50 billion dollars.
