Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a meeting with the leadership and investors of Horizon Capital, and has thanked the company for raising $254 million in support of Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Office of the President of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer at Horizon Capital, Lenna Koszarny, and international investors from eight countries, such as the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, as well as two international institutions. Horizon Capital’s representatives announced that their latest fund, Horizon Capital Growth Fund IV (HCGF IV), from which Ukrainian companies would be invested, had reached $254 million. The Head of State thanked those present for contributing to the fund and investing in Ukraine,” the report states.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine is interested in investment and cooperation that will promote the development of the economy and industry, modernization and progress of new technologies. Among the priority areas, the Head of State mentioned such sectors as information technology, energy, agrarian business, etc.

President Zelensky expressed gratitude to the countries and investors, which are ready to stand with Ukraine in this difficult time and have been showing support since the first days.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Rostyslav Shurma noted that Horizon Capital Growth Fund IV is not only a powerful step taken by investors but also the beginning of further cooperation.

According to Shurma, it is the first big and significant investment since the Russian full-scale invasion started. This fund is a clear signal that global businesses and investors believe in Ukraine’s victory, Shurma stressed.

Meanwhile, Koszarny thanked those who contributed to the fund and ensured its quick formation. In her words, Horizon Capital will soon direct these funds to the Ukrainian businesses that are in need of support and investment.

Koszarny mentioned that the first investments are expected to come in 30 days. The company will not wait and waste time, as Ukrainian entrepreneurs are in need of capital right now.

The representatives of investors who attended the meeting expressed their readiness to support Ukraine in these difficult times, namely the country’s private economy. In their opinion, investments will contribute not only to the growth in Ukraine’s economy but also lay the basis for its successful future.

A reminder that, on April 29, 2023, DFC CEO Scott Nathan, USAID Europe Assistant Administrator Erin McKee, and State Department Assistance Coordinator for Europe Maria Longi arrived in Kyiv to sign an agreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a $25 million investment with Horizon Capital to support fast-growing small and medium-sized businesses.
