The Ukrainian government has allocated more than UAH 1.2 trillion for the security and defense sector since the full-scale war started.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Since the full-scale war started, Government has allocated more than UAH 1.2 trillion for the security and defense sector. We have significantly raised payments to all the military. More than UAH 250 billion was spent on the procurement and modernization of weapons and equipment that effectively destroy the enemy,” Shmyhal said.

In his words, building a powerful army will be the priority task of the Ukrainian government in 2023.

“Next year, just as this year, the development of a strong army will be the main task of Government. The resources that we spent in 2022 and provided in the budget for 2023 clearly indicate this,” Shmyhal noted.

According to Shmyhal, this year the new security mechanisms have been created in support of Ukraine. The Ramstein format played the key role among them, having united 50 countries.

Many long-term contracts have been signed for the manufacture of weapons for Ukraine, which will be financed by the Governments of the United States, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway and other partner countries within the next two-three years. Ukraine is also planning to produce weapons on its own.

Additionally, Ukraine has applied for NATO membership and is implementing the Alliance standards in terms of logistics, planning and accounting, Shmyhal stressed.
