Ukraine already exported more than 370,000 tonnes of foodstuffs along ‘grain corridor’
The press service of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority said in a Facebook post, according to Ukrinform.
"During the nine days since the ‘grain corridor’ started operating, 12 ships, carrying more than 370,000 tonnes of agricultural products to 7 countries of the world, left Ukrainian ports and one ship entered the Chornomorsk port for loading," the report reads.
On the morning of August 9, two more ships, carrying a total of 70,000 tonnes of agricultural products, left the Chornomorsk port.
The RAHMI YAGGI ship will deliver 5,300 tonnes of agricultural products to Turkey, and the bulk carrier OCEAN LION will deliver nearly 65,000 tonnes of corn to South Korea. OCEAN LION was the second vessel that departed from the Chornomorsk port along the "grain corridor".
As Ukrinform reported, ships transporting grain from Ukraine through the Black Sea for export are protected by a special buffer zone of 10 nautical miles (about 18.5 km).
On July 22, in Istanbul, at the proposal of the United Nations, Ukraine, Turkey, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres signed the initiative on the safe transportation of grain and food products from Ukraine’s ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi.
