Ukrainian Finance Ministry optimistic about further cooperation with IMF
"This morning, after constructive negotiations, the Finance Ministry successfully completed consultations with the International Monetary Fund on Ukraine's draft budget for 2021," the ministry's press service quoted Marchenko as saying.
He said that the consolidated position with the IMF on key positions was the result of coordinated work of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the full support of the President's Office, which acted as one team.
"The main parameters of the negotiations were the formation of a common vision with the IMF of the main budget indicators in terms of revenues and expenditures of the country's main financial document and the deficit. The draft budget for 2021, prepared for its second reading and sent to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration, generally coincides with the estimates of the Fund's specialists. We are optimistic about further cooperation with the IMF and other strategic partners," Marchenko said.
Earlier reports said that the Ukrainian Finance Ministry had successfully completed negotiations with the IMF on the main parameters of Ukraine's draft state budget for 2021, which was one of the main prerequisites for beginning the first review of the Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine, setting a date for a visit by a mission from the IMF's European Department and receiving another tranche.
