President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expects that the implementation of the Ukraine-Israel Free Trade Agreement will increase mutual trade turnover up to $2 billion.

“I am convinced that the free trade agreement between our countries, signed in January 2019, will facilitate further growth of mutual trade turnover. The implementation of its provisions could help increase the trade turnover up to $2 billion in the short term,” Zelensky said at the meeting with President of Israel Reuven Rivlin, the press service of the President of Ukraine reports.

Zelensky stressed that Israel is one of Ukraine's key trading partners in the Middle East.

At the same time, he praised the political dialogue between Ukraine and Israel.

"I am sure that our close ties should continue to develop dynamically," Zelensky stressed.

On January 23-24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky makes a working visit to Israel, where the commemorative events take place at the World Holocaust Forum dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp.

Free trade area negotiations between Ukraine and Israel started in 2015. On January 21, 2019, the countries signed the FTA. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement on July 11, 2019. President Zelensky signed the law on ratification of the agreement on August 6, 2019. Israel has not ratified the agreement yet.
