Shmyhal: 610,000 people remain without power in Kyiv

Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform says.

“Regarding the electricity situation: the capacity deficit persists. As of tonight, 610,000 consumers in Kyiv are without power. We conducted a detailed audit of Kyiv and the region’s distributed generation capacity. There is significant potential,” Shmyhal wrote.

He emphasized that the task is to accelerate the commissioning of energy facilities, with a schedule already in place for their phased activation.

Ukraine continues to actively seek international assistance. According to Shmyhal, generators are being provided by 16 partner countries.

“437 have already been delivered from the EU and Japan. More than 500 are expected, with a significant portion already on the way. Power transformers will also arrive, with active assistance from the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Azerbaijan, and Lithuania (52 transformers in total expected),” the Energy Minister said, expressing gratitude to all partners supporting Ukraine’s energy sector.

Ukrinform previously reported that the DTEK Group announced that Kyiv would move from emergency to temporary blackout schedules starting at midnight.
