Ukraine joins Metre Convention

"Full membership in the Metre Convention will ensure the recognition of the metrological system of Ukraine, which meets European requirements and will make it possible to carry out the verification of the national standards of Ukraine with the national standards of 59 member countries of the Metre Convention, which is a prerequisite for international recognition of the results of measurements and tests of Ukrainian products for their promotion to the international market," the report says.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade noted that Ukraine's membership in the Metre Convention would also contribute to the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA) with the European Union.

Accession to the Metre Convention is stipulated by the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the strategy for the development of the technical regulation system until 2020, and the law on Ukraine's accession to the Metre Convention.
