Ukraine nearly doubles electricity imports – Ukrenergo
Ukrenergo board chairman Vitalii Zaichenko announced this on Ukrainian television, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Compared to last week, imports have increased almost twofold, which also makes it possible to supply consumers with electricity. Market conditions in Ukraine and Europe are favorable for purchasing electricity in Europe, where holidays are currently under way and prices are falling," Zaichenko said.
According to him, outage schedules are currently in effect across Ukraine, ranging from one to 3.5 load-shedding groups depending on the region. The most difficult electricity supply situation remains in frontline and border regions. In particular, three attacks on critical infrastructure facilities using guided aerial bombs were recorded over the past day in government-controlled areas of the Donetsk region.
Zaichenko also noted that the situation in the Odesa region remains challenging. At the same time, power engineers have restored electricity supply to most consumers in the city of Odesa.
He stressed that Russia is preparing for another large-scale attack.
"Since the beginning of autumn, we have seen that a massive attack on the energy system occurs roughly every ten days, after which emergency outages have to be applied," Zaichenko commented.
