Ukraine may get at least UAH 79 billion from the fight against smuggling in 2018, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

He said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Last year, due to our actions, we brought an additional UAH 79 billion to the state budget. We can at least the same amount this year. I understand that while we were struggling with some schemes, some others appeared and they became known to me and we declared a struggle against them," Groysman said.

On June 20, the Ukrainian government approved a plan to combat smuggling and shadow schemes at customs.

On July 3, the Cabinet of Ministers tabled in the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedural Codes of Ukraine concerning the criminalization of smuggling of goods.
