The European Union launches a five-year program to support energy efficiency in Ukraine and participates in co-financing of the Energy Efficiency Fund.

The appropriate agreements were reached on April 18 in Kyiv during the talks between the Government of Ukraine and the delegation of the European Commission with the active assistance of Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, the Government portal reports.

"The result of the talks was signing of the agreement on allocation of EUR 268 million from the European Commission for the Ukraine Energy Efficiency Programme. The EU’s contribution will total EUR 50 million," the statement reads.

The Head of Government thanked the international partners for the financial support.

"The Energy Efficiency Fund is the most high-quality mechanism for ensuring our energy independence. I am sure that energy efficiency programs will help not only to consume less energy resources but to improve the quality of services as well," Groysman stressed.
