The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a decree on temporary introduction of emergency measures in the national electricity market.

This decision was approved at an extraordinary Cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We summoned the Cabinet to make the decision on introduction of emergency measures in the energy system of our country," Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said.

Thus, the ministers approved revision of the schedule of operation of industrial enterprises and start of rolling blackouts during peak hours in seven regions of Ukraine – Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Cherkasy regions.

Earlier, Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk noted that Ukraine would face the inability to cover peak power system loads in two weeks if no emergency measures were taken now.
