Yatsenyuk calls on Rada to approve law on National Commission for Energy
“The law on the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities has been submitted to the parliament, it should be approved, and the agency should become fully independent. Today members of the commission are appointed by the president, while in line with the draft law, they will be appointed by an independent commission,” Yatsenyuk said at a meeting dedicated to the introduction of a new model of the electricity market, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He also noted that MPs should pass another two laws aimed at the reforming of the energy market – the law on the electricity market and the law on the connection to electricity networks.
“That’s why we are destroying the monopoly, create an economically efficient model of the energy market and become a part of the European energy market. This is the purpose and that’s why it has been implemented, we must make this draft the final text version of the law, and the parliament should support it,” the prime minister said.
He also expressed hope that the market would also support the government initiative.
