Lviv Airport receives 600 flights during EURO 2012
KYIV, June 18 /UKRINFORM/. Lviv International Airport has received 600 international and domestic flights during the EURO 2012 European Football Championship, the airport's marketing manager, Halyna Vynarchyk, has told UKRINFORM.
"Most of the charter and additional flights came from the participating countries - Germany, Denmark, Portugal, as well as from Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria. About 40,000 passengers used them to arrive in the host city and fly out to their native cities," she said.
She said that on EURO 2012 match days the renovated airport received eight Class D aircraft (Airbus 310s, Boeing 767s) with football fans on board.
The airport noted that simultaneously with the servicing of flights as part of the championship, foreign and domestic airlines had launched a number of new flights: UTair - Lviv-Surgut, Astra Airlines - Lviv-Thessaloniki, Aironix Airlines - Tivat-Lviv, Lviv-Simferopol, Azerbaijan Airlines - Lviv-Baku.
Thirteen foreign and four Ukrainian air carriers are currently operating at Lviv Airport. The number of international destinations is 18 (Moscow, Warsaw, Naples, Vienna, Munich, Prague, Istanbul, Timisoara, Dortmund, Venice, Wroclaw, Krakow, Thessaloniki, Hurghada, Antalya, Surgut, Tivat, and Baku).
