Ukraine's arms exporter Ukrspecexport, part of the state defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom, has signed a framework contract with Turkey's THK Teknik A.S. to create a repair base for Mi-17 helicopters in Turkey, Ukroboronprom's press service has reported.

"Cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey in the military-technical sphere has recently reached a new quality level and is one of the main elements of the strategic partnership between our countries," said Vadym Nozdria, Director General of Ukrspecexport.

According to the report, Ukrspecexport and THK Teknik A.S. already have experience of partnership, when the Ukrainian company in 2018 won the tender for the repair of 18 multi-purpose Mi-17 helicopters of the Turkish Gendarmerie General Command.

The new contract provides for the creation of the base and repairs of equipment of Turkish customers and the execution of orders for third countries, the report said.

Turkey's THK Teknik A.S. has been operating under various names since 1925 and now provides a wide range of services, including aircraft maintenance and glider and helicopter repairs.
