Two former judges from Crimea sentenced for high treason to 12 and 13 years in prison – prosecutor’s office
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, according to Ukrinform.
“Following a public prosecution by the Prosecutor’s Office of the autonomy, in absentia verdicts were handed down to a former senior prosecutor of the Yalta Prosecutor’s Office and a prosecutor of one of the departments of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The men were found guilty under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason) and sentenced to 13 and 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property,” the statement said.
A law enforcement source told Ukrinform that the sentenced individuals are Serhii Necheporuk and Mykhailo Hurevych.
It is noted that after 2014, the traitors sided with the enemy and began building “careers” within the occupation prosecution bodies.
In particular, they took up the positions of “senior assistant prosecutor of the city of Yalta” and “acting head of the department for oversight of the observance of citizens’ rights and freedoms of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea.” They were later appointed “deputy prosecutors of the city of Yalta of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea.”
Through their actions, the sentenced individuals ensured the establishment and functioning of occupation prosecution bodies on the peninsula and facilitated the aggressor state and its representatives in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine, the Prosecutor’s Office added.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, during the period of Crimea's occupation, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea submitted 1,136 indictments to the court, resulting in 402 sentences.
