SSU exposes Russian agent behind attacks on Pokrovsk front

Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) have detained a Russian agent in the Kyiv region who had gone into hiding after adjusting Russian attacks in the Pokrovsk sector.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the SSU.

Case materials show that the detainee is a 32-year-old miner from the temporarily occupied town of Novohrodivka who was recruited by Russian intelligence services.

Even before the community was seized, Russian operatives brought him into their agent network via the banned social media platform Odnoklassniki. There, he was contacted by a handler from Russia’s military intelligence, who offered cooperation in exchange for virtual “close personal relations.”

After agreeing to the proposal, the suspect began tracking and transmitting the locations of Ukraine’s Defense Forces within the town and its surrounding areas to the invaders.

The intelligence obtained was used by Russian forces to plan airstrikes on the community as part of their offensive in the Pokrovsk sector.

Following the occupation of Novohrodivka, the agent relocated to the Kyiv region, hoping to go into hiding and later continue his intelligence and sabotage activities in Russia’s interests.

SSU officers established the suspect’s whereabouts and detained him at a rented residence.

During searches, investigators seized a smartphone containing evidence of his cooperation with the occupiers.

SSU investigators have formally notified the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
