In Chernivtsi, police launched a criminal investigation into an incident involving an alleged attack on a Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center military officer and shots fired from a traumatic pistol at a civilian. The cases were opened under two articles: “hooliganism” and “intentional minor bodily harm.”

This was reported to a Ukrinform correspondent by the communications department of the Chernivtsi region police.

“Currently, two criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 296 (hooliganism) and Article 125 (intentional minor bodily injury) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. All circumstances of the events will be established during the pre-trial investigations,” the statement said.

When asked whether the proceedings were initiated based on statements from the parties involved in the incident, the police said they were initiated based on the incident that occurred over the weekend. They added that all circumstances will be investigated as part of the proceedings, including the legality of the actions of the TRSSC employees.

As reported, last Saturday, February 7, in Chernivtsi, a TRSSC employee used a traumatic weapon while checking documents. The regional TRSSC noted that this reaction occurred in response to their employee being wounded with a sharp object. An official investigation was launched.
