The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the National Police have blocked new draft-dodging schemes and detained four organizers of these operations in different regions of Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, the SBU reports this on its website.

"For payments ranging from $ 2,000 to $ 15,000, the dealers offered their clients the opportunity to flee abroad outside official checkpoints or by using forged documents," the report states.

In the Odesa region, two local dealers were detained. They acted separately but used similar schemes: they transported men to the border area bypassing checkpoints.

From there, the men were supposed to cross the border illegally on their own, following the instructions they had received. One of the suspects attempted to use a fake military ID and a pass to freely pass through checkpoints.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a 45-year-old railway security guard was detained. He had set up his own printing workshop at home, where he produced fake medical certificates of disability for conscripts.

In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers uncovered a dealer who organized transfers to the Odesa region, from where it was possible to cross into Transnistria outside an official checkpoint. All detainees have been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine, committed by an organized group or with profit-seeking motives).

The suspects are being held in custody. They face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As Ukrinform reported, over the past year law enforcement agencies have uncovered 420 criminal groups specializing in illegally transporting men abroad.
