Ukrainian railway worker jailed for spying on military trains for Russia
According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported the conviction.
The 45-year-old employee of a local Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) branch used his job position to secretly record the movement and transit stops of Ukrainian Armed Forces military trains.
"The enemy was primarily interested in freight trains transporting armored vehicles, artillery systems, and ammunition to the front. The agent transmitted the collected data to his handler, including coordinates of train movements and stops, as well as photographs of military assets," the report states.
After uncovering the mole, the SSU operatives documented his crimes and detained him. Simultaneously, special operations were conducted to secure defense force locations and railway infrastructure.
During searches, authorities seized a mobile phone and tablet containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy.
Based on the collected evidence, the Russian agent was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — high treason committed under martial law.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the SSU and National Police detained a group of Russian agents who were adjusting missile strikes across seven regions of Ukraine. The youngest among them was only 16 years old.
