March 9 declared day of mourning in Kharkiv for missile strike victims

March 9 will be declared a day of mourning in Kharkiv for those who died as a result of a rocket strike on a high-rise building.

This was announced on Telegram by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, according to Ukrinform.

“A day of mourning will be declared in Kharkiv immediately after the completion of rescue and search operations at the site of the strike, which will last two days,” Terekhov wrote.

He specified that Monday, March 9, has been declared a day of mourning.

As reported by Ukrinform, a five-story residential building in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv was virtually destroyed as a result of a hostile strike. Ten people were reported injured, including boys aged 6 and 11 and a 17-year-old girl.

Seven people are known to have died under the rubble of the building, including two children.
