Russian attack on Kherson leaves one killed, others injured
According to Ukrinform, this was announced by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
"According to the investigation, on January 1, 2026, the Russian army attacked populated areas of the region with tube and rocket artillery, as well as drones of various types," the statement said.
As noted, as of 17:30 it is known that one person was killed and three others were injured as a result of the enemy shelling. In particular, in the morning, a 30-year-old man was killed on one of the streets of Kherson. It is emphasized that he sustained injuries incompatible with life as a result of explosives being dropped from an enemy UAV.
Also, due to a drone attack in the regional center, a man and a woman were wounded.
At the same time, as the Regional Military Administration reports, the number of people injured in the morning due to a Russian drone strike on a multi-story building in the Central District of Kherson has risen to three. A 61-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man were diagnosed with blast injuries, concussions, and traumatic brain injuries. The victims will receive outpatient treatment. Their condition is mild.
According to the prosecutor's office, another woman was injured in Bilozerka after being caught in the impact zone of enemy artillery.
The Kherson Regional Military Administration also reports that on January 1 Russian forces shelled a residential building in the settlement of Bilozerka. The administration clarifies that a 32-year-old woman was injured in her own home. She sustained a concussion, a brain contusion, blast injuries, and a closed traumatic brain injury. The injured woman was hospitalized.
Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson region prosecutor's offices, a pretrial investigation has been launched into the commission of war crimes.
As Ukrinform previously reported, on January 1 in Kherson, as a result of Russian shelling in the Dniprovskyi District, a man was killed, and in the Central District, an elderly woman was wounded in her home due to a drone attack.
