Russian invading forces continue offensive operations in near Vovchansk in Kharkiv region, despite suffering significant losses.

This was reported on-air by Viktor Trehubov, Head of the Communications Department of the Joint Forces Group, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Unlike Kupiansk, most buildings in Vovchansk have long been destroyed. Fighting has been ongoing there for a longer period, and the destruction is much more severe, so the question is where to hold positions at all,” Trehubov noted.

According to him, Russian forces are advancing through territory that is practically completely destroyed, while Ukrainian forces defend areas where establishing fortifications is difficult due to constant strikes, including aviation strikes with guided bombs.

“There isn’t a multi-layered ‘layer cake’ of defenses like in Kupiansk or, for example, in Lyman. There are more defined Russian positions, but they spend a lot of effort just trying to push through. The dam situation slowed them down, but it did not stop them,” the spokesperson explained.

He also emphasized that the lack of greenery, which could serve as cover, has increased Russian losses recently.

“The question is only how many of their own soldiers they are losing while advancing through these ruins,” Trehubov added.

He further noted that the proximity of Russian territory to the combat zone allows Russian forces to quickly replenish their troops.

“The territory of the Russian Federation is right nearby, so they can afford constant reinforcements… and with logistics directly from Russian territory, there are no particular problems,” the spokesperson concluded.

As reported, on November 10, 170 combat engagements between Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the frontline.
