"In the National Guard of Ukraine, basic general military training for recruits has recently been extended and now lasts 57 training days," Pivnenko said.
He stressed that this timeframe allows soldiers to gain deeper theoretical knowledge, practice essential skills, master technical equipment, and build resilience and confidence – qualities indispensable for effective performance on the frontline.
"The final stage of the course is a comprehensive tactical exercise in the form of a three-day field deployment, which serves as a kind of exam where units are tested under conditions as close to combat as possible," the commander said.
During these exercises, guardsmen practice defensive and offensive actions, build positions and fire lines, establish communications, integrate tactical maneuvers with the use of UAVs, electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT) tools, and learn to react instantly to sudden changes in the operational environment.
"The comprehensive tactical exercise is not only about revising the material learned, but also about gaining practical experience that builds confidence and provides a clear understanding of action algorithms under challenging conditions," Pivnenko said.
