Over the past week, from September 22 to 28, Russian troops have significantly intensified their attacks in the south, increasing their use of missiles, drones, aerial bombs, and other weapons.

This was stated in a comment to a Ukrinform correspondent by Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces.

“The enemy has somewhat intensified its firepower with all available types of weapons, trying to destroy the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and inflict as much damage as possible on settlements adjacent to the frontline,” the Spokesman said.

According to him, enemy missile strikes increased by 38%, with the Russians using both ballistic missiles and Kalibr cruise missiles. Over the week, 528 Shahed/Geran UAV attacks were also recorded, 70% more than in the previous similar period.

“We destroyed some of them, about every fourth or fifth Shahed, but they tried to fly further,” he explained.

The Spokesman also reported that strikes with guided aerial bombs increased by 62%. Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are under constant aerial attack.

“The enemy uses guided aerial bombs every day... Yesterday, for example, late at night, almost at midnight, the enemy struck Kherson with two bombs,” Voloshyn said.

According to him, loitering munitions such as Molniya, Lancet, and Privet-82 were used by the enemy 75% more often, and the use of FPV drones by the enemy increased by approximately 10-12%. Every day, the occupiers carried out 25-30 shellings of settlements in the south.

“These types of weapons were used more against the civilian population, as they hit settlements located near the line of combat,” the Spokesman said.

Voloshyn named Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Orikhiv, Nikopol, Marganets, villages on the right bank of the Kherson region, as well as Ochakiv and the Kutsurub community in the Mykolaiv region, among the most affected.

“Every day in the south, we record up to 720 FPV drones, about 250 artillery strikes using up to 1,100 rounds of ammunition, up to 200 drops of ammunition from drones, and at least 30 loitering munitions,” he said.

As reported by Ukrinform, there were 136 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops over the past day, with the invaders putting the most pressure on the Pokrovsk sector.
