Russian forces have not captured the Hoptivka border checkpoint in the Kharkiv region, contrary to claims made by Russian propaganda.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, head of the Derhachi City Military Administration, refuted the false reports in a statement on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"This morning, Russian propaganda began spreading fake news claiming that the occupying army had supposedly taken control of the Hoptivka checkpoint. Since this claim is starting to gain public attention, I find it necessary to clarify: the occupiers did indeed attempt an assault on the checkpoint," the statement reads.

According to Zadorenko, soldiers of Ukraine's 58th Motorized Brigade repelled the attack, killing more than ten Russian troops, while dozens of others fled back across the border into Russia.

He stressed that the Hoptivka checkpoint remains fully under the control of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
