21,400 civilians remain in active combat zone in Donetsk region
This was reported during an online briefing by Dmytro Petlin, head of the Division for Operational Duty, Communications, Alerting, and Public Information at the Department of Civil Protection, Mobilization, and Defense of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“In the communities classified as active combat zones—of which we currently have 20—21,400 people remain in the settlements,” Petlin said, adding that 10 of them are children.
He clarified that the Zvanivska community has moved into the temporarily occupied zone, while the Mykolaivska community has moved into the active combat zone.
According to Petlin, since February 2022, more than 1,351,000 people, including over 206,400 children, have been evacuated from settlements in the Donetsk region under Ukrainian control.
Since early April, more than 3,330 people, including 55 children, have been evacuated from the region.
Currently, 172,000 civilians remain in the territory of Donetsk region controlled by Ukrainian authorities, of whom slightly more than 10,000 are children, noted the Regional State Administration official.
As reported, mandatory evacuation of the civilian population in the Donetsk region has been in effect since August 2, 2022.
