Latvia allocates EUR 10M for Ukrainian drone production

The decision was made during a closed cabinet meeting, Ukrinform reports, citing Latvia's Ministry of Defense.

"The Cabinet of Ministers agreed on strategic investments of 10 million euros in the Ukrainian drone industry with the aim of promoting cooperation between the defense industries of both countries and the implementation of joint projects," the statement reads.

Additionally, Latvia has allocated another EUR 20 million this year for drone procurement under the Drone Coalition initiative.

"At this time, it is important to stand by Ukraine not only in words, but also in deeds. Latvia's support for Ukraine has never been symbolic; we provide real support that helps strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities," Defense Minister Andris Spruds said.

According to Latvia's Ministry of Defense, the total support of all member states of the Drone Coalition for Ukraine's drone capabilities in 2024 reached EUR 1.8 billion. Latvia allocated EUR 20 million for the Drone Coalition in 2024. Latvia delivered almost 5,000 drones to Ukraine last year.
