During the meeting, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and CEO of the German arms concern Rheinmetall Armin Papperger discussed cooperation in the production of ammunition, armored vehicles and air defense systems.

According to Ukrinform, Umerov posted this on Facebook.

The Minister emphasized that Ukraine is open to sharing experience with partners, as the development of its own defense industry is of key importance to it.

“Ukraine is ready to establish joint ventures, and we already have a successful experience of such cooperation. We continue to expand our production capabilities together with reliable partners,” said Umerov.

He thanked Papperger for supporting Ukraine and Rheinmetall's readiness to implement new mutually beneficial projects.

As Ukrinform reported, in November last year, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko said that Ukraine had already established five joint ventures with European arms manufacturers. Three more, she said, are in the final stages of being set up.
