"A very difficult task": Sybiha tells of partners’ reaction to capture of North Korean soldiers

Ukraine's international partners consider the capture of two North Korean soldiers by Ukrainian forces a great success.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha at a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Regarding the reaction of international partners to the capture of two North Korean soldiers alive, I will share with you from original sources. Immediately after this, I was present at President Zelensky's talks with foreign leaders. They congratulate us, congratulate Ukraine, because this is a great success and recognition of Ukrainian military power," Sybiha said.

He noted that this extremely difficult task set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief was accomplished thanks to the heroism of Ukrainian troops.

In this context, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy emphasized that it was a challenge to capture North Korean soldiers because they tend to commit suicide by blowing themselves up. In addition, the Russian army also tries to make it impossible for the Ukrainian forces capture North Koreans alive.

"This happened. This is real evidence of the changing realities of Russian aggression, namely the involvement of North Korean soldiers in this war. For the first time, they are fighting on the European continent after a long period," the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukrainian soldiers captured in the Kursk region two North Korean soldiers. They have already been transported to Kyiv, where they are being interrogated by Security Service investigators.

South Korean intelligence reported that at least 300 North Korean soldiers deployed for Russia’s war in Ukraine have been killed in action, and about 2,700 more have been injured.
