Kremlin says Putin not attending G20 summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to personally attend the G20 summit that will take place in India in early September.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said this on Thursday, according to Interfax, Ukrinform reported.

"No, the president has no such plans. The trip is not on the agenda right now," Peskov told reporters, noting that he was referring to the format of participation directly related to the trip to the G20 summit.

"You know that the President participated in BRICS remotely. He has a really busy schedule now. The main emphasis is on a special military operation (i.e., a full-scale war with Ukraine - ed.)," the Kremlin spokesman added.

The G20 summit is scheduled to take place on September 9-10 in New Delhi.

As reported, Putin refused to attend the BRICS summit in South Africa because of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

He was also scheduled to visit Turkey in August, but canceled it.
