Zelensky: Ukrainian aviation has completed more than 14,000 combat missions during war
“Day of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine! We are proud of our heroes of the sky! Our aviation has already completed more than 14,000 combat missions during the war. Each one is a heroism. Each one is a result for Ukraine. Each one is a step closer to our victory,” Zelensky posted on Facebook.
As noted in the greetings published on the website of the Head of State, the soldiers-aviators, service members of the anti-aircraft missile and radio engineering troops of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were the first to take on the massive missile and air strikes of the Russian aggressor, in difficult conditions and in the shortest possible time mastered new types of weapons and of military equipment, boosted the combat capability of the units, and continue to inflict devastating losses on the occupiers.
"Our courageous defenders of the Ukrainian sky proved to the whole world that the enemy will never dominate the airspace of our country, and all its plans, as well as myths about the power of Russian weapons, crashed against the air defense shield of Ukraine," Zelensky said.
On behalf of the Ukrainian people, he expressed gratitude to the entire personnel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their high professionalism, stability and courage demonstrated in the battles with the Russian occupiers.
"We bow down to the bright memory of the fallen and remember all those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine," the President noted.
He also expressed confidence that the service members of this glorious type of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue to reliably protect the Ukrainian sky.
"I wish you indomitable spirit in defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and new victories in battles with the Russian aggressor. Glory to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!" Zelensky emphasized.
Ukraine marks the Day of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the first Sunday of August.
