Andriy Kovalev, a spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the 'United News' telethon, according to Ukrinform.
"It has been recorded that in the settlement of Khurstky, in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation, in the penal colony No. 12, the process of collecting information on military and civilian specialties of the prisoners there has begun," he informed.
The spokesperson noted that the prison administration is finding out information about prisoners' experience of conscript and contract service.
At the same time, Kovalyov said that the data collection is being conducted at the request of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"There are already rumors among the prisoners about forced mobilization and sending them to war in Ukraine," he summarized.
As reported earlier, according to British intelligence, up to 20,000 recruited convicts from the Russian Wagner Group were killed in the war in Ukraine in a few months.
