Government approves project for production, procurement, supply of ammunition for unmanned systems

The government has agreed the two-year project for the production, procurement, and supply of ammunition for unmanned systems and unmanned systems' combat units.

Taras Melnychuk, the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, said on Telegram that the decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

"The proposal of the Ministry of Strategic Industries, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Digital Transformation to implement a pilot project for the production, procurement, and supply of ammunition for unmanned systems and unmanned system combat units within two years has been approved," Melnychuk wrote.

According to him, the government also approved the Procedure for the Implementation of the Pilot Project, which defines the mechanism for implementing the pilot project for the development, production, procurement and supply of ammunition for unmanned systems and combat units of unmanned systems for the security and defense forces of Ukraine in terms of establishing organizational, technological and other requirements for conducting economic activity in the relevant field.

As reported, on July 13, the European Parliament approved the Ammunition Support Act (ASAP) to build the capacity of the defense industry, in particular, to urgently supply Ukraine with ammunition.
