War update: 36 combat engagements recorded in five areas within last day

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a morning update posted to Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Tonight, the Russian Federation struck Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed attack UAVs. Reports about the consequences of this terrorist attack are currently being clarified. In the last 24 hours, Russian occupation forces also attacked Ukrainian territory with Iranian Shahed attack drones. Twelve out of 18 of these UAVs were destroyed . In addition, the enemy launched a missile attack on an infrastructure facility in Zaporizhzhia. Some 53 air strikes and about 60 MLRS attacks on the positions of our troops and populated localities were also recorded. Unfortunately, the infrastructure was destroyed, and civilians were injured," the update said.

The probability of missile and air strikes on targets across Ukraine remains high, the General Staff said.

In the Volyn and Polissia areas, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There are no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces perform tasks in areas bordering Ukraine.

In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna areas, the enemy launched an airstrike in the area of Vilshana, Kharkiv region. The enemy mounted mortar and artillery attacks on more than 15 localities, including Popivka, Chernihiv region; Krasnopillia, Sumy region, and Okip, Neskuchne, Vovchansk, Budarky and Rublene in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk area, the Russians tried to advance in the Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka districts of the Luhansk region. Ukrainian soldiers repelled all enemy attacks. The settlements of Kolodiazne, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Masiutivka, Kupiansk and Kyslivka of the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Lyman area, within the last day, the enemy conducted assault operations and unsuccessfully tried to drive Ukrainian troops out of their occupied positions in areas northwest of Berestove, Luhansk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes outside Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Spirne in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Vesele and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled all attacks in the area of Berkhivka, Donetsk region, under heavy fire from the enemy's aircraft and artillery. At the same time, the enemy carried out airstrikes near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Hora, Kurdiumivka and Pivnichne. More than 20 settlements, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Hora and Dyliivka in the Donetsk region, came under enemy artillery fire.

In the Avdiivka area, the enemy, with the support of aircraft, carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Novokalynove, Avdiivka and Nevelske. At the same time, the enemy fired artillery at more than 15 villages, including Keramik, Zhelanne, Avdiivka, Sieverne, Karlivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske of the Donetsk region.

In the Marinka area, under enemy artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks in the area of the city of Marinka. The enemy launched an airstrike near Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region. The enemy shelled the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Pobieda in the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarske sector, the Russians carried out unsuccessful offensive actions near Blahodatne, Donetsk region. An air strike was carried out near Velyka Novosilka. More than 15 settlements were shelled, including Novomykhailivka, Yelyzavetivka, Bohoiavlenka, Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva and Sieverne in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson sectors, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on preventing the further advance of Ukrainian troops. The enemy fired artillery on more than 30 settlements, including Novodarivka, Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole and Zaliznychne in the Zaporizhzhia regions, Lvove, Tokarivka, Antonivka, Veletenske and Kizomys in the Kherson region and the city of Kherson. At the same time, Ukraine's defense forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, are entrenching themselves on the achieved lines, and carry out counter-battery measures.

In the past day, Ukrainian combat aircraft launched seven strikes on enemy personnel concentration areas, four strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems and one strike on the enemy's command post. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed two reconnaissance UAVs of the operational-tactical level. Ukrainian rocket and artillery units hit two command centers, an ammunition depot, eight artillery pieces, two air defense systems and two electronic warfare stations of the enemy.
