Vereshchuk: More than 3,000 people evacuated from right bank of Kherson region

More than 3,000 people have been evacuated from the settlements on the right bank of Kherson region. Another 133 people have been rescued from the territory of the region on the left bank temporarily controlled by the Russian invaders.

"If we talk about the right bank, then more than 3,000 people have been evacuated," Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said during the United News nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to her, most people stay in Kherson region, they do not want to go far from home and wait for the water to recede.

When asked how many citizens were evacuated from the left bank of Kherson region, which is controlled by Russian troops, Vereshchuk answered: "133 people have been evacuated. Bastards shoot in the backs of our people."

She added that these people live in special shelters, and recommended that people go to Zakarpattia region, western Ukraine, where they will be provided with shelter and help.

The government official noted that the evacuated citizens have the status of IDPs and will receive appropriate payments until the end of this year.

According to her, the government, together with international partners, is working on the issue of one-time payments. In addition, the eRecovery government program is in effect.

As reported, the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka HPP dam on the night of June 6. In Kherson region, rescue operations and measures to evacuate people from flooded areas are ongoing. The situation is particularly difficult in the territories temporarily occupied by the Russians.

Thirteen countries have already provided assistance to Ukraine in overcoming the consequences of the Russian army's explosion at the Kakhovka HPP dam.
