Area of flooded territories in Kherson region decreased by almost a half – governor

After the Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovka HPP, the average level of flooding in Kherson region decreased by 27 cm, the area of the flooded territories has fallen by nearly half.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, said this in a video message, Ukrinform reports.

"Compared to the morning [of June 10], the average level of flooding has decreased by 27 cm and is now 4.45 m. The area of the flooded territories has decreased by almost half. The water has receded from Mykolaivka, Lvove and Olhivka of Beryslav district. 32 settlements on the right bank are still flooded. 3,784 residential buildings are under flood water,” he said.

As of Saturday evening, 2,699 people, including 178 children and 67 people with reduced mobility, were evacuated from dangerous settlements.

As reported by Ukrinform, after the Russian forces blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant on June 6, rescue operations and evacuation of the population from the areas affected by flooding are ongoing in Kherson region.
