The Defense Forces of Ukraine have eliminated 162 Russian invaders and injured 157 more in the Bakhmut area over the past day.

Serhiy Cherevatyi, spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the nationwide news telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Bakhmut remains one of the enemy’s priority targets. Over the past day, they launched 170 attacks with barrel and rocket artillery in the Bakhmut section of the front. 25 combat clashes took place, during which 162 occupiers were killed, 157 more were injured," Cherevatyi said.

He noted that the number of attacks in the Bakhmut area has slightly decreased. Earlier, there were 35-50 attacks or more, now 17-25 attacks are recorded.

"However, it should be taken into account that these are only powerful strikes against our Defense Forces. There are also complex factors, weather conditions, and attempts to somehow regroup our forces," the spokesman noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Russian army continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka areas.
