Russia lacks personnel, assets to monitor own defense positions - British intelligence

That’s according to the British Defense Ministry citing intelligence data, Ukrinform reports.

“Minefields only present an effective obstacle for trained troops if covered by observation and fire. A major challenge for the Russian forces will likely be a shortage of surveillance assets and trained personnel to effectively monitor large areas of the new minefields," British intelligence says.

It is noted that since October, Russian troops have mostly focused on constructing defensive positions along many sections of the front line in Ukraine.

"This includes laying additional fields of anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, almost certainly going beyond Russian doctrinal guidelines," the report notes.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in Luhansk region, Russian invaders have mined large bridges, highways, and all forest lines, which poses a challenge to the advance of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
