Police opens more than 51,000 criminal proceedings over Russian war crimes in Ukraine

The National Police of Ukraine has opened more than 51,000 criminal proceedings over the crimes committed by the Russian military and their accomplices in Ukraine since the full-scale invasion started.

The relevant statement was made by Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Over 10 months since the full-scale war started, the National Police of Ukraine has opened more than 51,000 criminal proceedings over the crimes committed by the Russian military and their accomplices. In average, the police registered 168 war crimes per day,” Klymenko wrote.

In his words, over 2.2 thousand criminal proceedings were related to collaborative activities. Now, there are 448 persons listed as suspects, and 240 indictments have been submitted to court.

Additionally, the National Police members inspected over 16,000 hectares in area as part of demining efforts. The explosives experts seized about 184,000 munitions and over 4.7 tonnes of explosive substances. More than 50.5 thousand explosive items were neutralized.
