Russia shells Kherson with cluster munitions, remotely mines streets – military spokesperson
Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces, stated this in a comment to Ukrinform.
"The enemy quite often uses cluster munitions and conducts remote mining with anti-personnel mines not only in coastal areas but generally in residential neighborhoods of Kherson," Voloshyn said.
According to police, on February 17 anti-personnel mines were discovered at the intersection of Beryslavske Highway and Myru Street.
Voloshyn stressed that civilians are suffering from these actions and urged residents to remain vigilant. In particular, if suspicious objects are found, they must not be touched and law enforcement authorities should be notified immediately.
He added that some of the submunitions used by the enemy against Kherson residents are of foreign manufacture.
The spokesperson also recalled that anti-drone nets have been installed along the Kherson-Mykolaiv highway.
Earlier reports said that three types of anti-drone nets tested in Kherson and proven effective had begun to be used in other areas as well.
