Ukraine supports the idea of deploying in Ukraine Patriot SAM systems, which Germany promised to Poland.

This was stated by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, who spoke at the meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers in Lodz, Ukrinform reports.

"We support the idea that Germany transfer to Ukraine the Patriot system, which it is ready to deliver to Poland," Kuleba said.

According to the top diplomat, yesterday, during the NATO ministerial, and today in Łódź, he spoke with everyone who can positively influence the decision to transfer the first Patriot launcher to Ukraine.

"This topic is present in every conversation I have. We need to build a structure on when this can be implemented. But the key decision has to be made by Germany. If Germany makes a positive decision, we will build a structure that will implement this decision," the head of the Ukrainian delegation emphasized.

On the other hand, as Kuleba noted, if Germany avoids such a decision, "no matter what structure you build, it will be very difficult to achieve the result."

As reported, Germany offered Poland Patriot systems to protect the airspace after missile strikes on the area bordering Ukraine. In response, Warsaw offered to deploy the Patriot in Ukraine near the border with Poland. It would be better for Poland's security, President Andrzej Duda said.

After that, a lively debate unfolded, which NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also joined. He said that the deployment of air defense systems in Ukraine is possible, but it’s Germany that must decide. In this way, Stoltenberg denied the arguments of Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, who initially referred to possible reservations on the part of NATO.
